Iranian films win awards at Calcutta film festival

Four Iranian films took home awards from the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival (CICFF) in India.

Four Iranian films have won awards at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival (CICFF) in India.

The July edition of the CICFF, a monthly live screening film festival in India, bestowed the Best Narrative Feature Award to ‘Cold Breath’, directed by Abbas Raziji, the organizers announced recently.

The movie narrates the story of Maryam, who has passed thirty, and the hardship she faces every day. The cast includes Bita Baderan, Majid Mozaffari, Parichehr Riali, Hamideh Barati and Ezzatollah Ramezanifar.

The Best Women’s Film Award went to ‘Golden Time’ by Atefeh Rahmani.

‘A Share of Share’ by Kaveh Jahed won the Outstanding Achievement Award for One-Minute Films, while ‘Not Acceptable’ by Saman Haqiqivand was named Best Web and New Media Film.

CICFF is an official member of the British Film Institute, in London, and of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, in New York.
